Carleen Hatton

Carleen V. Hatton, 86, of Chesterfield, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Southside Regional Medical Center. A native of Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Milton F. and Florence Barnes Michael, and was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia M. Porter, Marjorie M. Bryant, and a brother, Calvin Michael. Mrs. Hatton was a member of Matoaca Baptist Church, where she formerly taught Sunday school. She retired after 45 years of service with Bell Atlantic, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She is survived by three nieces, Patsy Smith and husband, Tommy of Matoaca, Judy M. Treaster and husband, Clair of Hopewell, and Cindy Carleen Bryant of Dinwiddie; two nephews, Durwood Michael of Matoaca, and Johnnie O. Bryant of Dinwiddie; great nieces, Raye Anne Durham and husband, Brian, Tracy Cochran and husband, Glen, and Sidney Smith; three great-great-nieces, Kassie, Peyton and Carson; one great-great-nephew, Michael; a sister-in-law, Alma W. Michael; and a cousin, Audrey Partin. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Donald Joyner officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.
