Carol Maitland

Carol Lee Maitland, 82, of Colonial Heights, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2022. She was born in Richmond on October 18, 1939 to the late Carlos and Clara Burke and attended Immanuel Baptist Church. She served over 30 years as a school bus driver for Colonial Heights Public Schools Transportation Department, and cherished the time that she spent with her family and friends.  Those who enjoyed her company were aware that you never knew what would be said as that was her natural ability to make people laugh.  Mrs. Maitland was preceded in death by her husband, William Ashby Maitland. She is survived by her children, Michael Thomas (Doris Ozmar), Kristie Maitland (Greg Jones), Tracy Maitland (Kevin Elder), and Billie Carol Garner (Dwayne); grandchildren, Whitney and Cayce Thomas, Courtney Ayscue (Daniel Franco), Dylan Gibbs ( Kaitlyn Barron), Karlie Jones and Greenleigh Garner; and numerous great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the funeral home.
