Caroline Hayden

Caroline “Dena” Hayden, 58, of Disputanta, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. Born May 22, 1964, she was the daughter of the late Mary Phyllis and Garland Lee Hayden, Sr.

Dena worked as a school bus driver for Henrico County for over 10 years, retiring in 2009. A devoted animal lover, she has rescued many abused and neglected dogs over the years, providing them a home where they were loved and cared for. Although she physically lived in Disputanta, Dena’s heart lived at the beach, where she always found peace. Dena’s passion was caregiving, whether it was an animal, friend, or family member, she was always there to provide loving care to those in need.

She is survived by her companion of 33 years, Dean Englehart; her two sisters, Pam Stolte and husband, Matt, Laura Tracy; brother, Garland Hayden, Jr.; and beloved niece, Avery Stolte.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022 in Bermuda Memorial Park, 1901 Bermuda Hundred Rd, Chester, VA 23836. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday night, August 31, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
