Carolyn Moon Gill

Carolyn Moon Gill was born June 3, 1938, in Roanoke Rapids, NC. She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1956 and Petersburg School of Nursing as an RN in 1961. Her nursing career spanned more than 30 years working in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Geriatrics and ended Administratively as an inspector for the Virginia Department of Medical Assistance Services. She served as a St Stevens Ministry Representative for her Church, Highland Methodist. 

Carolyn was an excellent seamstress and costume maker, donating her talents to many performers throughout the state of Virginia and volunteering backstage at The Miss Virginia Pageant for last minute sewing needs. For over 20 years, she served as a sponsor, advisor and chaperone to many Miss Colonial Heights contestants for The Miss Virginia Pageant before advancing to the state level as a Field Director. 

Carolyn was married to Frederick B. Gill from 1960 until his death in 1994. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Sue Gill King (Frank) of Colonial Heights, Va, Terry Gill Davis (Todd) of Summerville, SC; and grandson Frederick Mitchell Martin IV of Colonial Heights.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia, 23834, with internment to follow at Blandford Cemetery, 111 Rochelle Lane, Petersburg, Virginia 23803. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
