Carolyn Shuman Gwinn

Carolyn S. Gwinn, 83, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, joined the Lord on Sunday, June 2, 2024, after a short illness. She was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Gwinn of 63 years; sons, Michael Gwinn (Bonnie), Christopher Gwinn (Kena); daughter, Kathryn Gwinn; and grandson, Bryan Gwinn. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hobert and Lavinia Shuman.

Carolyn was a long-time member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star, Chapter 130, for over 50 years. She was a lover of life. She enjoyed family gatherings, playing bridge with friends, and cruising the open seas. Carolyn loved looking her best. She was “always” a lady.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends Monday evening June 10, 2024 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory.
