Carolyn Elaine Slaughter, 62, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023. Born May 11, 1961, she was the daughter of the late Jack Randolph and Joanne Stigall Slaughter.
Carolyn grew up on a farm, where her strong work ethic and values were instilled. She attended McKenney Baptist Church until her health prevented her from doing so. She cherished her time there and the sense of community it provided. She worked for the USDA Farm Service Agency as a program/loan technician for a number of years.
Her younger days were often spent working on the family tobacco farm, a testament to her dedication and resilience. She also had a love for reading Amish books and, alongside her sister, exploring Amish country.
Carolyn had a special place in her heart for her furbabies: Sugar, Buddy, and Chip. Her compassion extended beyond them to her family as she lovingly cared for her mother and cousin, Jean, when they needed her most.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Randy Thomas Slaughter; sisters, Geneva Flexon and husband, Butch, Margaret Slaughter, Debbie Hinton, Nancy Kirsch; sister-in-law, Donna Turner; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many beloved friends.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral on Friday from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
