CSM Carthin "CV" Johnson USA (ret.), 86, of Ettrick, passed away on Friday, July 27, 2012. Born in Kentucky, he was the son of the late Henry and Vina Bentley Johnson, and the widow of Opal Frances Johnson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam Wars, with over 30 years of service, and the recipient of many medals to include the Bronze Star. He is survived by his son, Paul David Johnson and wife, Kathy of Macon, Georgia; two daughters, Deborah Johnson Conti and husband, Gordon of Petersburg, and Delores Johnson Gates and husband, Russell of Colonial Heights; five grandchildren, Paul David Johnson Jr., Diana Brooke Gates, Sarah Elizabeth Arrigo, Kaylana Suzanne Gates, and Mahala Jade Gates; one great-grandchild, Lily Sophia Cowles; a sister, Zella Sheffield of Fort Pierce, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia at a later date, with full military honors.
