Catherine E. Cotten, 88, of Colonial Heights passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2009. She was the daughter of the late Alfred W. and Lucas Jane Wynn Elmore, and the widow of Russell R. Cotten. She was a member of West End Baptist Church, and the Colonial Heights Women's Club. Mrs. Cotten was a retired Secretary with DuPont. She is survived by five nephews, Alfred R. Elmore of Chester, Randolph G. Williams of Carson, Richard Covington of Richmond, Robert Covington of Colonial Heights, and Robert Elmore of Petersburg; nine nieces, Ada A. Branch of Petersburg, Edith A. Talbott of Richmond, Jean E. Yancey of Littleton, North Carolina, Jane W. Vaughan of Hampton, Carolyn W. Sullivan of Mechanicsville, Lucia C. Camper of Smithfield, Margaret W. Proctor of Richmond, Linda C. Morton of Colonial Heights, and Dorothy W. Carter of Chester; sister-in-law, Erma Elmore of Petersburg. A graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, March 28, 2009 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg with the Reverend Dr. Carol McCann officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
