Cecil Spain Estep, 95, of Chester, Virginia passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. Born in Petersburg, Virginia on June 5, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Waverly Garland and Jessie Poarch Spain; and was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin L. Estep; sister, Margaret S. Holmes; brother, Kenneth G. Spain; and niece, Diane E. Carroll.
Cecil graduated, with honors, from Petersburg High School and was employed at Fort Lee right out of high school. She later married Marvin L. Estep and was married until his death in 1994. She retired from Walthall Construction Company where she was a bookkeeper.
Cecil was a charter member of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Petersburg, Virginia where she served on many committees throughout the years. Everyone in our family, our close friends and caretaker, called her Auntie. Everyone loved Auntie and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by two nieces, Sheila H. Moore (Jimmy) of Chester and Wanda Wilkin of Woodstock; three nephews, Dr. William H. Carroll, Jr. of Williamsburg, Kenny Spain (Brenda) of Colonial Heights, and Chris Spain (Ann) of Colonial Heights; and numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 1769 S. Sycamore Street, Petersburg, Virginia 23805. Inurnment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong, South Prince George, Virginia 23805. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer.
