Cephas Witt

Cephas W. Witt of South Hill, formerly of Colonial Heights, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012. He was the son of the late John and Jennie Wren Witt, and was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine B. Witt; a son, Cephas W. Witt Jr., and two brothers, John S. and Richard B. Witt. Mr. Witt was United States Army Veteran, a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, and the Powhatan Stark Masonic Lodge #124. Survivors include daughter, Cathy Witt Hillard and husband, Major M. Hillard III of Midlothian and son, Michael Witt and wife, Valerie Condit Witt of Boydton, Virginia; grandchildren, David M. Witt, Joanna W. Pittard, Major M. Hillard IV, Cameron Witt Hillard, Stacie W. Logan, and Stephanie W. Paratore, great-grandchild, Garnett B. Pittard; one sister, Sallie W. Mayes of Madison Heights, Virginia. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Fred Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Private family interment in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Virginia 23060 or Virginia Blood Service, 2201 Westwood Avenue, Richmond, Virginia 23230.
