Charles Brown Sr.

Charles E. Brown Sr., 89, of Hopewell, formerly of Colonial Heights, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2010 at John Randolph Medical Center. Born in Prince George, he was the son of the late Walter M. and Lottie Wills Brown, and was preceded in death by three loving wives, Emily Kroupa Brown, Maude Cannon Brown, and Jeanette Whitehead Brown, and his son, Charles E. Brown Jr. Mr. Brown was a United States Coast Guard Veteran, and retired from Sears' Service Department. He is survived by his daughter, Marie B. Brant of East Lyme, Connecticut; two sisters, Betty Lord of Chester, and Kettie Brown Wills of Kansas City, Kansas; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a devoted friend, Grace Hackney of Colonial Heights. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday August 13, 2010 in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester with the Reverend Keith Ritchie officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
