Charles G. "Jack" Ferguson, 73, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Dan E. and Katherine Rodgers Ferguson, and the widower of Rita N. Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson was a retired veteran with the United States Air Force, a very active member of Grace Lutheran Church, and a member of the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284. He received a Master's Degree from the University of Maryland, and a Master's Degree from Virginia State University, and his doctorate from The College of William and Mary. Mr. Ferguson was the former Director of Continuing Education at St. Leo College, and a Systems Analyst TRAC-Lee, both at Fort Lee, and a professor at Virginia State University. He is survived by a son, Charles Thomas Ferguson and wife, Rachel E. Ferguson of Colonial Heights; a daughter, Rita Ann Laske and husband, Dr. Douglas Laske of Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Coty Ferguson, Lindsey Garcia, Jessica, Jennifer, and Sarah Laske; one great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Garcia. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2011 in the Grace Lutheran Church, 13028 Harrowgate Road, Chester, Virginia 23831 with Pastor Richard J. Finck officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
