Charles Heermance Charles "Chuck" Heermance, 80, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. Born in Hudson, New York, he was the son of the late John and Madelyn Coons Heermance, and was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Alberdin. He retired from the U.S. Army with over 20 years of service and was involved with the Korean Peace Talks and did tours in Vietnam, Germany and Japan. He was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Hudson, New York and attended Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, Virginia. Mr. Heermance is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Virgie Heermance; daughters, Teresa Burnette and husband Kevin of North Augusta South Carolina, Terri Douglas and husband, Chris of Chester, Virginia and a son, Charles Michael Heermance Sr. and wife, Haley of Colonial Heights , Virginia; grandchildren, Allen Weathersbee, Amber Higdon, Morgan Douglas, Gabriella Douglas, Patryck Michalik, Mikayla Heermance, Charles Heermance Jr., Rachael Heermance and Skylar Heermance; great grandchildren, Olivia Weathersbee, Hunter Higdon and a brother John MacDonald and wife June of Philadelphia along with numerous nieces and nephews and a close family friend Sibyl Fulmer of Dearing, Georgia. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 19, 2016 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Andy Brockelman officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2-4:00 p.m. at the funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Richmond Chapter 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130 Glen Allen, Virginia 23060.
