Charles Worsham Moorman Jr., 85, of Colonial Heights, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 29, 2009. He was the son of the late Charles Worsham Moorman Sr. and Lucille Zink Moorman and was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Canpagnone. Mr. Moorman was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church, Colonial Heights. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during WWII. Mr. Moorman attended Virginia Tech University and Apprentice School in Roanoke. He went to work for Norfolk and Western Railroad for 13 years, and later for Allied Chemical for 30 years and retired as a Supervisor. Mr. Moorman was a volunteer for the Southside Emergency Crew for 15 years, where he was on the Rescue Team during the 1969 Nelson County Flood; he was a volunteer for the Colonial Heights Fire Department for 15 years, and he was also a Mason. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Virginia E. Moorman; four children, Virginia Pope and husband, Jerry of Richmond, Claudia Joyner of Colonial Heights, Kimberly Nance and husband, Mark of Colonial Heights, and Charles W. Moorman III and wife, Wendy of Chester; eight devoted and loving grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2009 in Woodlawn Baptist Church, 3120 Woodlawn Avenue, Colonial Heights with the Reverend Dr. John P. Mason officiating. Interment private. The family will receive friends following the service in the activities building. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church.
