Charles Sudsbury

Charles "Richard" Sudsbury, 84, of Petersburg, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012. He was the son of the late William and Mary Jane Goins Sudsbury, and the widower of Evelyn Lamm Sudsbury. He was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Lucas, and Mattie Overby; brothers, Luther Sudsbury and William Sudsbury; step sons, Donald Lewis and Warren Lewis. Mr. Sudsbury was retired from the Petersburg Turnpike Authority. He is survived by a sister, Elizabeth "Sis" Adams of Chesterfield; step sons, Cecil Lewis and wife, Janie, John L. Lewis and wife, Dianne of Church Road; step daughter, Charlotte Miller and husband, George of Franklin; and a daughter-in-law, Gloria Lewis of Church Road; numerous nieces and nephews; his little dog Dana; and a very special friend and gardener, David Yoder of Jarratt. A graveside service will be held 2 P.M on Thursday, April 26, 2012 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, with the Reverend Robert Rowland III officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening (tonight), in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
