Charles Thompson

Charles Edward Thompson, 86, of Prince George passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022. Born February 9, 1936, he was the son of the late Duward Carr Thompson and Virginia Harrison Thompson Godfrey and was also preceded in death by his son, Steven Dale Thompson.

Charles was a lifetime member of Rosewood Presbyterian Church. After 30 years of dedicated service, he retired from working in the powerhouse at Hercules/Aqualon Group. He enjoyed reading and cherished his time spent at the public libraries within the Tri-Cities. Charles had a wonderful time traveling the country by train. A handyman by nature, Charles enjoyed learning how things worked and fixing things on his own. Most of all, Charles adored his family and extended family and loved spending time with them.

He is survived by his former wife of 35 years, Joyce E. Thompson; loving daughter, Rebecca Thompson Brooks; grandchildren, Charles Matthew Brooks (Annika), Jonathan Adam Brooks (Christina); sister, Charlotte Stanley (John); and other extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022 in Wesley United Methodist Church, 3701 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at the church. Inurnment will take place in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens at a later date.
