Charles L. Wright, 91, of Matoaca, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Charlie W. and Mary Pearl Lynch Wright. Mr. Wright was a United States Army veteran having served during World War II, and was retired from VDOT as a Heavy Equipment Operator He is survived by his wife, Edith Ashby Wright; a son, Kenneth W. Wright and wife, Evelyn of Matoaca; a daughter, Deborah Wright Carter and husband, Daniel of Dinwiddie; grandchildren, Michael Blackburn Jr. and wife, Sherry of Chesterfield, Ben Blackburn and wife, Nichole of Hopewell, Derrick P. Fuller and wife, Alma of Dinwiddie, Jason Wright and wife, Jamie of Matoaca, Codey Kirkbride, and Nicole Kirkbride both of Dinwiddie; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Doris Fulks; a brother-in-law, Harry Ashby; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg with the Reverend Pat Porter officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
