Charlotte Mann Browder, 98, of Colonial Heights, departed this life in the early morning of June 10, 2023. She was born June 21, 1924, in Ettrick, VA, to the late William B. and Bella D. Mann. She was just 11 days away from happily celebrating her 99th birthday! Charlotte was raised in Ettrick and was a member of Ettrick United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Joe I. Browder; her brothers, Gregory Mann, Raymond (Sammy) Mann, and Gerald Mann; her daughter, Jerie Lynn Williams; and son, Dr. J. Wayne Browder.
Charlotte, also known as Mama, Mother, Maury, Molly, Auntie, and Sissy, was loved by all who knew her! Her spunky attitude always brought a smile to our faces! Her greatest joy was her family! She loved being a wife and a homemaker. She loved writing, working Word Searches, and cooking. She had a special touch in making fried cornbread! Charlotte was a member of the Oak Hill Garden Club and The Ettrick Friendship Club, dating back to 1980. She thoroughly enjoyed her many bus trips along the East coast, but especially the ones to the outlets in Pennsylvania. Charlotte loved to shop! And she loved accessorizing almost every outfit with a beautiful scarf!
Charlotte is survived by her daughter-in-law, Cheri W. Browder; brother, Bruce H. Mann; four grandchildren, Tracie Lynn Souther (Neil), J. Scott Browder (Brandi), Terri Amanda Owens, and Suzanne B. Davis; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews and their families.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with the Rev. Bobby Lamb officiating. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to AT Home Care & Hospice, 3610 B Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, or Dunlop House Assisted Living and Memory Care, 235 Dunlop Farms Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all the nurses and staff at Dunlop House for the loving care given to Charlotte during her stay. She loved and appreciated you all!
