Charlotte Croshaw

February 10, 1923 — July 22, 2008

Charlotte Barnes Croshaw was born on February 10, 1923, and passed away on July 22, 2008. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Ernest Reams Croshaw, and her parents, Charles G. Barnes and Beaulah W. Barnes. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Kendra Croshaw; her husband's nephew and wife, Wayne and Mary Ellen Croshaw; her husband's niece and husband, Brenda and Robert Johnson; her life long friend, Edith Sizer and her children, Ronald Barry and wife Marty; and Gayle Wilson and husband Jimmy. Charlotte worked as a receptionist for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company for many years, where she was a popular employee with a host of friends. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Colonial Heights for 63 years. Charlotte was a wonderful wife and mother who took tremendous pride in her home and her family. Charlotte graduated from Jarratt High School in 1940, and was the president of her senior class. She was well loved by all who knew her then and all who knew her now. A tribute to her in the yearbook reads as follows, "To see her is to love her, and love her but forever; for nature made her what she is, and never made another!" A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Rev. Alan D. Thorne officiating. Interment will follow at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg and will be private. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Brighter Living Assisted Living facility for their thoughtful care and support which was extraordinary for many years and Hospice of Virginia for their support and compassion during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wesley United Methodist Church, 3701 Conduit Road, Colonial Heights, Virginia, 23834.
