Charlotte "Penny" Munson DeBoer, 93, of North Dinwiddie, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at her daughter's residence in Colonial Heights, VA. Born in Dinwiddie County, VA she was the daughter of the late Nicholas B. Munson, Sr. and Dora M. Kirks; and was also preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Julius J. "Jack" DeBoer; a son-in-law, Larry D. Corrigan; three sisters, Mildred Munson, Margaret Armstrong and Barbara Mann; and one brother, Nicholas B. Munson, Jr. Penny served as the President and was the valedictorian of her graduating class. She had a love for traveling and enjoyed taking bus trips with the Young at Heart Club. Mrs. DeBoer was a kind and giving person who like to make personalized gifts for people. People often said once you met her you couldn't help but to love and remember her. She is survived by her loving children, Jay DeBoer and wife, Dawn, Dave DeBoer and companion, Colleen Finchum and Diane Corrigan; three granddaughters, Candice Corrigan, Sydney DeBoer and Skylar DeBoer; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her two special caregivers, Jalisa and Jennifer, for all of the love and care shown to Mrs. DeBoer. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA with the Rev. Donald Joyner, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, The American Heart Association or to your local SPCA. The family is being served by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
