Cheryl Kimberly (Kim) Messer, 57, departed this life unexpectedly on January 24, 2016. Kim was a resident of Colonial Heights for most of her life, where she worked at Golden Corral up until the time of her passing. She will be remembered for her free spirit, sense of humor, creativity, love of animals and rock music, and always being the life of the party. Her family was the center of her world, particularly her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Jeremiah; children, Stevie (Aaron) and Ryan; grandchildren, Savannah, Leland, Lorelai, Easton and Aaron Jr., siblings, Stephanie (Matt) and Chris and their children; ex-spouses, Barry and Richard; and an enormous amount of devoted friends. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Virginia, with a procession leaving the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 1, 2016 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at the funeral home.
