Chester W. Ivey of Chesterfield, formerly of Emporia, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017. He was the son of the late Artis W. and Winnie D. Ellsworth Ivey and was preceded in death by a half-sister Shelby J. Ivey. Mr. Ivey was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Emporia. Mr. Ivey was a 1964 Graduate of Petersburg High School. He was a retired Textile Consultant and was formerly employed by VA Dye and Finishing Inc. Chester was a member of Emporia Country Club, and enjoyed playing golf, he was also a member of Brink Hunt Club and Cato Hill Hunt Club. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara C. Ivey, daughter Melissa Williams and husband Clint of Chesterfield, son Michael Ivey and wife Gina of Midlothian, two granddaughters, Sydney Williams and Erin Williams, two grandsons, Jagger Ivey and Paxton Ivey, sister Rebecca F. Ivey of Petersburg, brother Davis W. Ivey and wife Angela of Prince George, and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 10, 2017 in the Crater Road Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road Petersburg, Virginia 23805, with the Reverend Wilson Conwell officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday, June 9, 2017 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
