Christopher Anthony Rote (Chris), 56, entered into eternal peace on March 25, 2017, in Petersburg, Va. Chris, one of five siblings, was born in Hornell, N.Y., on February 15, 1961, to the late Edgar Rote and Anna White Rote. Chris was a graduate of Hornell High School in Hornell, NY. He joined the Navy and served 4 years aboard various aircraft carriers. After his service, Chris held many jobs around upstate New York. In the mid-90's Chris decided to move to VA to be closer to his family. He worked at Wal-Mart for over 20 years both in the Distribution Center in Dinwiddie and finally in the Wal-Mart Superstore located on Crater Rd in Petersburg, VA. Chris was most happy when he was among his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly as he never had any children of his own. Mr. Rote is survived by a loving family that includes his sisters, Maria Lambert and Anne Bonti both of Petersburg, VA; and Wilhelmina Robinson of Amarillo, Tx and brother Gerard Rote of Hornell, NY. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews including, Jack Lambert (Sandy) of Winter Haven, Fla., Nikolas Bonti of Petersburg, VA., Elizabeth Bonti of Fayetteville, NC., and Crystal Wilson (Ronnie) of Colonial Heights, Va.; and many great-nieces and nephews, Sydney Lambert of Colonial Heights, Va., and Brittany Lambert of Winter Haven, Fla, and Tatum Stanton of Fayetteville, NC. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 1711 Jefferson Davis Highway, Colonial Heights, VA 23834, with Fr. Danny Cogut as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Ann's Catholic Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 29, 2017 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
