Clarence Hugo Hannuksela, (U. S. Army - Ret), 96, of Colonial Heights passed away at his home on October 6, 2015. From Hibbing, Minnesota Clarence was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Clarence, also known as "Roy", was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. After retirement from 23 years active duty, service as a civil service employee at Fort Lee, resulted in over forty-two (42) years' total service to our country. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Rooks Hannuksela. He is survived by his daughter, Janis Hannuksela of Midlothian and three sons; Donald Hannuksela and wife, Rhonda of Disputanta; Glenn Hannuksela and wife, Paige of Matoaca; Brian Hannuksela and wife, Janet of Colonial Heights, five grandchildren, David Hannuksela and wife, Jodi; Gracie Hannuksela; Glenn Hannuksela, Jr. and wife Katie; Danielle Hannuksela; and Drake Hannuksela; two great granddaughters, Emily and Savannah and a great grandson, Jase. Additional family members are cousins Roger and Kathy Rosand of Duluth, Minnesota; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Ferguson of Colonial Heights and Alyce Ruth Rooks of Portsmouth, VA; his "adopted" son, Glenn Royster and wife, Carol; and his dedicated caregivers the last three years, Robbie Lyden and Carol Bish; and "Tiger", his spoiled cat. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, located at 2033 Boulevard in Colonial Heights, with the Rev. Robert Livesay, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Chester with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM on Friday, October 9, 2015, in the Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Home at 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Colonial Heights Fire and EMS, P. O. Box 3401, Colonial Heights, VA 23834.
