Clarence Jones

SSG Clarence Gilbert Jones USA (Ret.), 85, of Prince George, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born in Pensacola, Florida, he was the son of the late Fred Jones and Vera Shelby Grubbs. Mr. Jones was retired from the United States Army having served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and was a retired Power House Operator with Stone Container. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ilse B. Jones of Prince George; a son, Clarence J. Jones and wife, Vicki of Dinwiddie; three daughters, Ilse Schmeizel and husband, Franz of Regensburg, Germany, Sylvia Vaughan and husband, Robert of Chester, and Denise Kirk and husband, Conrad of Colonial Heights; six grandchildren, Christopher Ryan Jones, Stephanie Varga and husband, Kevin, Courtney Jones, Jennifer Richard and husband, Wesley, Ashley Coughenour and husband, Russell, and Sabrina Schmeizel; and three great-grandchildren, Alexandria and Brooklyn Varga, and Joseph Richard. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014 at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia, Virginia 23002, with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
