World War II Veteran Clarence M. Shepherd Sr., 88, of Waverly, lost his final battle on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at McGuire Veterans Medical Center. Born in West Virginia, he was the son of the late John A. and Katie Carlise Shepherd. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glorius W. Shepherd. Mr. Shepherd was a United States Marine Corps veteran, having served during World War II, and was retired from F.W. Baird Co., a dedicated, longtime, faithful employee. He is survived by his children, Kathryn Ann Williams and husband, TK of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Linda Lee Bradberry and husband, Kenneth of Waverly, and Clarence M. Shepherd Jr. of Waverly; five grandchildren, Paul, Tracy, Andrew, John and Virginia; and eleven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg.
