Clarita Saxon Spiers, 87, of Chester, departed this life Friday August 23, 2013. She was born February 25, 1926 in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late Albert A. and Richie Lewis Sexon. Mrs. Spiers was preceded in death by a brother Albert Allen "Jim" Saxon Jr., and a son John H. Spiers Jr. She was a member of Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member of the choir of many years and singing was her passion. Mrs. Spiers was also associated with her husband in the John H. Spiers Electrical Contractors business for many years, She is survived by her husband of 69 years John H. Spiers, daughters Trisha S. Owens and husband Ron of Chester, Sue Gail S. Fisher of Colonial Heights, a son Kevan Spiers of Colonial Heights, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother Bernard Lewis Saxon and wife Betty Ann of Colonial Heights, two sister in-law Elizabeth S. Cabaniss and Judy Stevens, numerous nieces and nephews and cherished friends. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 27,2013 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Nathan Decker officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park Chester, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday August 26, 2013 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
