Claryce Crowder

March 6, 1920 — March 25, 2011

Berneta P. Crowder, 91, of Colonial Heights, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011 at her home. She was the only child of the late Walter S. Price and Annie L. Davis Price, was widow of Shelbon W. Crowder. She is survived by her only child, Shelley C. Goldberg and a beloved "son" Dr. Jay S. Goldberg and many dear and beloved friends. Berneta was a locally known artist who was compared to Grandma Moses. Her paintings have been featured in many local art galleries and in the Knoke Gallery of Atlanta, GA. One of her paintings is part of the Virginia Artists Collection at Longwood College and is featured on the College's thank you notes. She also created the logo for our local SPCA. She will long be remembered for her love and devotion to family, friends and animals large and small. We would like to thank Dr. Michael Cohen for all his care and kindness. To her many care givers we would like to express our appreciation for their love and devotion. The family will receive friends Monday 7-8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Family and friends will gather Tuesday 3:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park in Chester for a graveside service officiated by the Rev.
