Claudine Baxter, 75, of Colonial Heights, was called Home on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 as God needed a gardener in Heaven. Born in North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Elma Davis Hodgin. She was a member of Ivey Memorial United Methodist Church, the Colonial Heights Garden Club, Master Gardener, the Fort Lee Ladies Golf Association, Red Hat Society, and the Women's Golf Club Champion for many years at Fort Lee. She is survived by her husband, George V. Baxter; a daughter, Cheri B. Spain and husband, Warren of Chester; a great-granddaughter, Gabrielle A. Spain; two sisters, Mary Martin and Marie Smith; two nieces, Cindy Lowe and Rory Caviness all of North Carolina; numerous great-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 in Ivey United Methodist Church, 17120 Jefferson Davis Highway, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834 with the Reverend Richard Geoghegan officiating. Interment will be private. Arrangements by the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
