Clifford Short Jr.

Clifford E. Short, Jr., 96, of Colonial Heights, VA passed away at his home on Saturday, April 9, 2016. Born in Petersburg, VA he was the son of the late Clifford E. Short, Sr. and Willie Lee Slaughter Short; and was also preceded in death by a brother, William F. Short; and two sisters, Helen G. Short and Martha S. Hitchcock. Mr. Short was a longtime member of Highland United Methodist Church and was retired from the Virginia Department of Agriculture in the Fruit and Vegetable Inspection Division after 37 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Magee Short; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA with the Rev. Dr. Dorothy O'Quinn and with the Rev. William Rawlings, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Highland United Methodist Church, 125 E.
