Clifford Thweatt Jr.

Clifford Epps Thweatt, Jr., 89, of Colonial Heights passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018. Born in Petersburg, Virginia on October 21, 1928, he was the son of the late Clifford Epps Thweatt, Sr. and Mary Malone Thweatt. Cliff accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a faithful attendant of West End Baptist Church for many years. He graduated from Petersburg High School and later attended Virginia Tech (VPI). He was a United States Army veteran, having proudly served during the Korean War. After about 30 years of dedicated service, Cliff retired from Reynolds Metals (ALCOA). He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and was known for his kind and sweet spirit. Cliff was a talented craftsman and outdoorsman. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Olive Doss Thweatt; daughter, Carol Thweatt Thornton and husband, Tommy; granddaughter, Kelly Thornton O'Connell and husband, Tommy; grandson, Thomas Rudd Thornton III and wife, Alisha; great-grandchildren, Emma and Caelin O'Connell, Takoa and Rudd Thornton; special sister-in-law, Judi Doss Tucker and husband, Robert; and brother-in-law, Raymond E. Doss and wife, Gloria. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will follow in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
