Cora Lucas

Cora Lee Lucas, 88, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023. Born July 21, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Cooper Blunt and Thelma Dolby Taylor. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Helen Cromer, Billy Taylor, and Lavader Horne; and her devoted former husband, William Gene Lucas.

Cora retired after 32 years from Verizon, formerly known as C&P, where she started out operating the switchboard. Once things were updated, she transitioned into the customer service department. She was an avid doll and other antiques collector and enjoyed being outdoors in the sun while gardening.

She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Lucas Eanes and husband, William “Skip”; grandchildren, Kristin Michelle Oxenham and husband, Trevor, and Ashley Eanes Jones and husband, Kris; great-granddaughter, Coraline Jones; and other extended family members.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 in Blandford Cemetery, 319 S. Crater Road Petersburg, Virginia 23803. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys Foundation , 3854 American Way, Suite A Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
