CSM Willie B. Harris (Ret. US Army) 85 of Colonial Heights passed away peacefully on November 5, 2014 in Richmond, Virginia. He was born in Warren County, North Carolina to Calvin and Mary Ella Harris. He grew up and attended school in Warren County and joined the Army in 1949 where he served his Country, honorably in Korea and Vietnam until his retirement in 1975, achieving the notable rank of Command Sergeant Major. Willie B. married Betsy Perkinson in 1953 and was happily married for 61 years. Willie B. was a member of the American Legion Post 284 and an avid fisherman who enjoyed salt water fishing on his boat, the "Betsy Ann" named after his loving wife. He was preceded in death by his grandson Jacob B. Harris. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Betsy Perkinson Harris of Colonial Heights, his sons James (Barbara) Harris of Colonial Heights, Jesse (Teri) Harris of Charlottesville, his daughter Elizabeth H. (Danny) Webb of Chesterfield, his grandchildren; Danielle W. Buscemi (Capt. Chris Buscemi) of Oceanside, CA., Jeremy D. Webb of Richmond; Matthew T. Harris of Colonial Heights, Lauren H. Newlin (Mike) of Henderson N.C.; and great grandchildren; Dominic Buscemi, Matias Buscemi and Will Harris. A graveside service with full military honors will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday November 15, 2014 in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, Virginia with Chaplain William Gibson officiating. An American Legion service will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014 with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m. at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E.
