Cynthia Gibson

July 7, 1967 — November 14, 2015

Cynthia L. Gibson, 48, of South Chesterfield passed away unexpectedly at John Randolph Medical Center. Born on July 7, 1967, she was the daughter of Jeptha Archie Gibson, Jr. and Marjorie Gibson Deas. Mrs. Gibson was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where she was baptized. She loved riding motorcycles and enjoyed horseback riding, but her family brought her the most joy in life. Her death was unexpected and has left us all very heartbroken, although we know she is resting in the arms of her Heavenly Father. She held John 10:27-30 close to her heart, as it says: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one. She is survived by her mother, Marjorie Gibson Deas; siblings, James Gibson and wife, Cindy, Mary Gibson Harper and husband, Dan, Joseph Gibson and wife, Linda, Jeptha A. Gibson III; children, Ricky Owen, Wendy Owen, Bethany Lundie and husband, Derick, Andrew Owen and Summer Owen; eight grandchildren; loving aunt, Elizabeth Knapp; uncles, Sherrill West and Tommy Peedin; seventeen nieces and nephews; forty-two great nieces and nephews; five great-great nieces and nephews; numerous cousins; best friend, Brenda Owen; and her furry four-legged son, Sam. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard, with the Reverend Bruce Rhew officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private. Flowers are welcome, or contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Attn: Individual Giving Department, 1701 North Beauregard St. Alexandria, VA 22311. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
