Dale Powell

Dale C. Powell (BMCS US Navy Ret), 82, of Petersburg passed away on Monday, May 17, 2010 at Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, Virginia. He was the son of the late George C. and Mary Olds Powell, and was preceded in death by five brothers, Glenn, Lloyd, Raymond, Gerald and Jack Powell, and a sister, Marge Morris. Mr. Powell was a retired veteran with the United States Navy after 26 years of service, and the President of the USS Betelgeuse Reunion Association. . He is survived by his wife, June Troxel Powell; two daughters, Ruth Baldwin and husband, David of Colonial Heights, Virginia and Susie Wade and husband, Steve of Carson, Virginia; two grandsons, Dale Dickens, and David Baldwin Jr.; a sister, Dorothy (Dot) Woods and husband, Ernie of Mayetta, Kansas; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 in the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard with the Reverend Joseph Elmore officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
