Dan Young

Dan Lee Young, 78, of Colonial Heights passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Southside Regional Medical Center. Born on April 17, 1937, he was the son of the late Fred H. and Neva P. Young. Mr. Young was retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of service and served in the Vietnam Conflict where he received a Bronze Star. He was a charter member of Colonial Christian Church, where he served as Chairman of the Official Board and on the Board of Elders, and was active in many community affairs. He is survived by his loving wife, Gail Young; daughter, Dawn W. Harman (Gary) of Chester; grandchildren, Arica Dawn Johnson (Taylor), Alan Harman (Jessica); great grandchildren, Skylar, Tristan, Avery, and Riley Degner, Tucker Johnson; brother, Max E. Young (Helen) of Indiana; nephews, Jeff Young (Debbie) of Indiana and Steve Young (Ann) of Ohio. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Colonial Christian Church, 295 Dunlop Farms Boulevard, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with the Reverend Alan Little officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, at Amelia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Rd, Amelia Court House, VA 23002. Funeral Arrangements are being handled by the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard.
