Daniel Baxter Morris Jr., 83, of Chester, passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at his residence. He was the son of the late D. Baxter Morris Sr. and Ruth Hudnall Morris, and was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel C. Morris, and a brother, Harold Morris. Mr. Morris was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during WWII. He was a member of the Chester United Methodist Church, and attended the University of North Carolina. He was a member of the Colonial Heights American Legion Post #284, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and was a past commander of Camp A.P. Hill in Petersburg. He is survived by a daughter, Kay B. Koch of Huntsville, Alabama; a son, Richard S. Morris of Chester; a grandson, Christopher Koch and wife, Danielle of Missouri; a great-granddaughter, Ella Koch; and a sister, Ruth Blum of Atlanta, Georgia, a niece: Shirley Church and several great nieces and great nephews. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2009 in the Chester United Methodist Church, 12132 Percival Street, Chester with Dr. Marg Kutz officiating.
