Danny Marvin Norwood of Colonial Heights, VA passed away on November 5, 2016 after a lifetime full of love and observance. Danny was born on December 21, 1949. As we spent our final moments with Danny, everyone observed that he had ‘never met a stranger.' This sentence could be the motto of Danny's life. He always wanted to connect with everyone he met. This connection may have been as simple as the weather, or as deep as his strongly held Christian beliefs. It only makes sense with this passion for meeting and connecting, Danny was blessed with his trademark loud and booming voice. Danny was a passionate Christian and embraced these beliefs with his whole heart. He took an active and enthusiastic role in any church community he belonged to. This included Danny serving several leadership roles such as Deacon and Choir Director. Danny was also a founding member of Liberty Baptist Church in Hopewell, VA. Besides his resounding voice and service to the Lord, you could tell that Danny was around because there was always a song on his lips. It didn't matter where Danny was, he always found a reason to sing. If a reason was not immediately present, he created one and sang anyway. This included Danny performing at several nursing homes, parties, and utilizing his love and talent for singing in his Christian service. Danny was also an avid boater with a passion for being out on the water. He was a talented mechanic that could fix anything. He used to say, "There's nothing I can't fix, except a broken heart." There was little in the world he couldn't repair. Danny also taught himself to play the guitar and partnered that with his love of singing. As Danny passes from this life to the next, we choose to celebrate who he was. He was a good son, husband, father, brother, and friend. His life was one filled with bonds, service, and music. We will miss his warm and loving presence, but are at peace knowing that his suffering on Earth is no more. It was Danny's wish that in lieu of flowers, money be given to help others with cancer. For this reason, if you are led to give to us, please donate to the Patient Access Network Foundation in memory of Danny Norwood. This foundation helps families out financially with lifesaving medications and treatment. If you are not led to give money, please consider donating blood in Danny's memory. Danny wished others to benefit from his experiences, and we as his family feel these are two ways to honor that wish. Danny is preceded in death by his father Marshall Lee Norwood. He is survived by; his mother Dorothy Belle Green Norwood, his wife Margaret Osmundson Norwood, and his two daughters; Audra Victoria Norwood and Wendy Tomlinson Humphries. He is also survived by his siblings; Jerry Norwood (Anita), Nancy Starke (Jim), Teresa Magda (Mike), and Morris Norwood (Sandy), several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a strong and loving church and neighboring community. A Memorial Service will be held 12:00 noon Friday, November 11, 2016 at Swift Creek Baptist Church, with visitation to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
