Dave Ervin Buffkin

Dave Ervin Buffkin, 67, of Disputanta, VA passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at VCU Medical Center. Born in Fort Dix, NJ on March 5, 1956, he was the son of the late Elmore M. Buffkin and Dorothy Francis Collie Buffkin. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Marcel Buffkin. 

Dave worked as a Freight Serviceman for CSX for 10 years, and later became a Train Conductor for Amtrak, working for 34 years and retiring in 2023. He was a longtime member of Monumental Baptist Church in Petersburg, VA. He also served as the interim music director for various churches in the surrounding area while he was in college at VCU studying music. Most importantly, family was everything to Dave, and he loved nothing more than to spend time with them. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Tammy Buffkin; daughters, Kristin Buffkin and Becky Rosen and husband, Everette; son, Brian Buffkin; sister, Barbara Dungan and husband, Duane and many other extended family members. 

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Crater Road Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S. Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the funeral home.
