David N. Lawrie, 86, of Midlothian, formerly of Colonial Heights, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Elmcroft of Chesterfield. Born in Buffalo, New York, he was the son of the late James M. and Esther Nordin Lawrie, and the widower of Evelyn Holcomb Lawrie. He is survived by a son, Gregg D. Lawrie and wife, Peggy of Madison Heights, Virginia; a daughter, Jean A. Garland and husband, Roger of Midlothian, Virginia; four grandchildren, Paul Garland and wife, Christina of Richmond, Virginia, Zachary Lawrie and wife, Betsy, James Lawrie and wife, Ashley, and Michael Glass and wife, Molly all of Lynchburg, Virginia; a great-grandson, Ezra Garland of Richmond; a niece, Laurie Hartman and husband, James of Buffalo, New York; a nephew, Jonathan Welch and wife, Ann of Lockport, New York. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m., with a brief tribute message at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will be private.
