David Gordon McLaughlin, 66, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in Baker, Montana. He was a native of Petersburg, and a former resident of Colonial Heights. He was the son of the late Richard Gordon McLaughlin. He was educated in Colonial Heights schools, and while in the U.S. Navy graduated from Junior college in Hagerstown, Maryland. He retired after twenty years of military service. While in Montana, he became a Male Nurse working at the Baker Montana Hospital. He is survived by his mother, Louise Witt McLaughlin of Petersburg; daughters, Ruth Beemer McLaughlin, and Katherine Keene and husband, Marcus; three grandsons, Douglas James Grotchel, Dylan Grotchel and Jared Grotchel all of Reesdsville, North Carolina. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Second Baptist Church, 3355 Johnson Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805 with the Reverend Joe Lewis officiating. Interment of ashes will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
