Deborah Lee Vaughan, 68, of S. Chesterfield passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. Born September 23, 1953, she was the daughter of the late William and Evelyn Skelton Rivers.
Deborah was an insurance biller at Johnston Willis Medical Center for a number of years, where she worked her way up to supervisor. She then left the hospital to work with her husband in reopening Hilltop Barbeque, where she ran the front end and eventually became a chef. When Hilltop closed its doors, Debbie continued her work as a chef and several restaurants in Chesterfield and Richmond.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 39 years, Charles “Chuck” Allen Vaughan; sisters, Victoria Skalsky and Patricia Gorman; two nieces; two nephews; other extended family members and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes, 2033 Boulevard. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, June 7, 2022 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Southside SPCA, 7352 Patrick Henry Hwy, Meherrin, VA 23954. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
