Mrs. Delilah Maureen Vaughan "Dee Dee" ended her Earthly journey, very peacefully, June 10, 2018. She is joined by her husband, Bobby Gene Vaughan Sr.; her daughter, Frances "Sista" Dee Vaughan; her father and mother, Dreama and Frances Chance; her sisters, Patty Mayes & Beatrice Butler; and brother, Wayne Chance. Delilah was an amazing mother to many but none more so than to her very own two children. Delilah's passions were fishing and cooking. She fished better than any three men and fed every hungry soul she came across. Delilah was a wonderful grandmother, devoted to three grandchildren, to them she was sunshine & a slow dance of the infinite stars. She was a devoted Christian and found solace in prayer. Delilah's eyes were her own, fierce and beautiful, with her sweet face & contagious smile. She had a decorous demeanor and everything she did, she did with class. Delilah was the bravest, boldest, lionhearted woman to ever live, surviving twenty plus years of health complications before leaving this world on her own terms. We know for certain, we did not lose Delilah because she is in our blood, hearts and soul. Like her husband and daughter, she will continue to be an infinite life force, a legend of her own making. The work she did on this Earth will forever speak for her. Delilah is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bobby G. Vaughan II & Beverly Vaughan; a nephew, Chad Mayes; three granddaughters, Chelsea Dee Meekins, Areba Jene Meekins & Lexxy Shyane Lewis; great-grandson, Phoenix Wilson; her sister, Julia Rieves; her brother and sister-in-law, Billy & Annette Chance; numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Intrepid Hospice for going above & beyond in this difficult time. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 16, 2018 in the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road, Petersburg, Virginia 23805, with Pastor Ron Shortt officiating. Entombment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, S.
