Derrick Thomas Carlisle, 26, of Chester, Virginia, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023. Born on March 14, 1997, in Watertown New York. He was raised by his loving grandparents, Kenneth and Nora Geer. He graduated from Indian River High school in Jefferson County. He also attended BOCES in Watertown, New York where he found his love for heavy equipment.
Derrick served his country proudly, in the United States Navy as a Boatswain mate for four years on the USS Gerald R Ford aircraft carrier.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a proud member of the local car community. Aside from his love of cars, and his 2013 Chevy Silverado, Derrick most of all loved his family who loved him right back.
He is survived by his loving fiancée, Shelby A. Guydan; daughters, Lani Carlisle (mother, Alexis Carlisle), Tinsleigh Carlisle; grandparents, Kenneth Geer and Nora Geer; sisters, Tori and Jessica Carlisle; uncles and aunts, Aaron and Taryn Geer, David and Nicol Geer, Daniel and Dani Geer; as well as aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, in-laws, close family and personal friends.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Colonial Heights Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834. The family requests that no one wear black as this is a celebration of life, blue is preferred as it was his favorite color; however, anything colorful will be acceptable. A reception will follow at the Petersburg Masonic Lodge 115 S Sycamore St, Petersburg VA 23803.
