Derwood Barnes

Derwood E. "Bud" Barnes, 72, of Dinwiddie, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 at Southside Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Cleon and Pauline Hamm Barnes. He was preceded in death by a brother, Cleon Ray Barnes, and a sister, Edna Jenkins. Mr. Barnes was a member of the Aircraft Owners Pilot Association and the Petersburg Pilots Association. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sarah "Aileen" Barnes; two daughters, Deborah B. Taylor and husband, Kevin of Dinwiddie, and Laura B. Crabtree and husband, Steve of DeWitt; four grandchildren, Shannon Stanley and husband, Bryan, Dustin Sadler and wife, Amanda, April Crabtree, and Daniel Crabtree; one great-grandson, Aiden Stanley. A graveside funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, with the Reverend Robert Rowland III officiating. Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Petersburg Chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes & Crematory, 3935 S. Crater Road.
