Diana Grace Helsel, 83, of Disputanta, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Bon Secours Southside Medical Center in Petersburg. Born June 3, 1940, she was the daughter of the late William Gordon Jones and Helen Grace McConkey Jones. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Couch; son, Donald A. Helsel Jr. and grandson, Mark W. Marshall Jr. Diana is survived by her son, Douglas Ray Helsel and wife, Tammy; granddaughters, Amy Marshall Cole, Erica Forbes and Renee Helsel; grandsons, Matthew A. Marshall and Donald A. Helsel III; great-grandchildren, Landon, Evan, Hayden, Emma and Laney and sister, Linda Orton and husband, Phil. She was a member of Swift Creek Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. She was also a volunteer for the Army Community Services (ACS) and a den leader for Cub Scouts, Webelos and Boy Scouts. She was passionate about helping soldiers and working with children and watching them learn and grow in a safe and welcoming environment. Diana retired from Boddie-Noell Enterprises (Hardees) after 20 years working as a restaurant manager. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Swift Creek Baptist Church, 18510 Branders Bridge Rd, Colonial Heights, VA 23834. The service will be officiated by Reverend Dr. Stephen Felker. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Swift Creek Baptist Church. Condolences may be registered at www.ealvinsmall.com.
