On Saturday, August 13, 2022, Dietlind (Linda) Johanna Peters, loving wife, mother of three children, and Oma to five grandchildren, passed away at the age of 87 in Colonial Heights, Virginia. Linda was born on May 2, 1935, in Oppeln, Germany to William Friedrich and Helene Moering. She started her career as a fashion designer for Klepper in Munich, Germany, worked at Coburn Optical, Feazel and Colonial real estate companies as a real estate agent, and as a bank teller. Linda met Ronald John Peters in Bad Aibling, Germany and were married. They were stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia, Hawaii, Heilbronn, Germany, and Fort Lee, Virginia. They raised two sons, Wolfgang and Elmer, and one daughter, Wendy. Linda had a passion for walking, hiking, traveling, skiing, and mountain climbing. She loved opera music and singing in the choirs at Lutheran Church of our Redeemer and Wesley United Methodist Church where she was a member. During the summer, you could find her at Sherwood Hills Swim Club where she was known to everyone as Oma. You would never know when she would demonstrate her yodels. Linda was proud of her German heritage and was an avid member of the local Damenklub. Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Helene Moering, her father, Wilhelm Friedrich Moering, her brother, Manfred Moering, and her husband, Ronald John Peters. She is survived by her brother, Wilhelm Friedrich Moering, three children, Wolfgang Josef Peters (Debbie), Elmer John Peters (Melinda), and Wendy Lea (Peters) Jones, and her grandchildren, Mark Jones (Jess), Erica Jones, Cristina Peters, William Peters, and Andrew Peters. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Southlawn Memorial Park 1911 Birdsong Road S. Prince George, Virginia 23805.
