Donald Daniel

Donald Jesse Daniel, "Donnie/Red Rooster", age 69, of S. Chesterfield, passed away on September 4, 2015. Born in Alberta, Virginia on October 6, 1945, he was the son of Sarah Havens Daniel and Taft Loyd Daniel, both of whom predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lorraine Newton Daniel, his daughter, Debbie Daniel Helmer, of Midlothian, step-sons David Newton (Cathy) of South Chesterfield, and Rusty Newton (Robin) of South Chesterfield, also five grandchildren; Jordan Click, Jessica Click, Brittni Newton, Dustin Newton and Chad Newton; two great grandchildren Dillon Newton-Short and Kai Mayfield; brothers, Freddie R. Daniel of South Chesterfield, Thomas L. Daniel (Jane) of Blackstone, and sister, Rebecca Daniel Hudson (Wallace) of Blackstone, Numerous nephews, nieces and cousins; and a very special friend Carl Shell. He served in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969; retired from the A&P Grocery Store in 1999. Donnie loved to hunt deer, birds and ducks. He loved his horses and horseback riding; training Labrador Retrievers was also a passion of his. Special thanks to all the Hospice Nurses. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday September 12, 2015 in the Chapel of E. Alvin Small Funeral Homes and Crematory, 2033 Boulevard Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with the Reverend James Partin officiating. Interment will be private.
