Donald Lambert

October 9, 1936 — May 9, 2016

Donald Joseph Lambert (Don), 79, entered into eternal peace on May 9, 2016 in Colonial Heights, Virginia. Don, one of four sons, was born in Hornell, New York on October 9, 1936 to the late Leo Lambert and Alzada Nesbit Lambert Scott. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Leo, James, and Jack; his step-mother Alice Reynolds Lambert; and his step-father Lester Scott. Don did not complete high school, but it did not stop him from serving with distinction in the U.S. Navy as an ordnance specialist, mainly on aircraft carriers, until he retired in 1975. After his 20-year career in the U.S. Navy, he worked various jobs until he retired in 2007. Don was well liked by everyone that he came into contact with because he was quick to laugh. But, mostly Don lead a quiet life, as he liked to keep to himself. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, football and the outdoors. Don, a communicant of St. Ann's Catholic Church, served as a "driver" in the church's food pantry for several years. Mr. Lambert is survived by a loving extended family that includes his sister-in-law, Maria Lambert; brother-in-law, Christopher Roteboth of Petersburg, Virginia. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews including, Jack Lambert (Sandy) of Winter Haven, Florida, Mary Lambert Wolf (Joe) of Arkport, New York, Daniel Lambert (Linda) of Avoca, New York, Bryan Lambert (Neil) of Irondequoit, New York, Karen Lambert Storms (Gordon), Crystal Wilson of Colonial Heights, Virginia; and many great nieces and nephews, Sydney Lambert of Colonial Heights, Virginia and Brittany Lambert of Winter Haven, Florida. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 1711 Jefferson Davis Highway, Colonial Heights, Virginia 23834, with Fr. Lou Ruoff officiating.
