Donald Edward Martin, 84, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Chippenham Medical Center. Born in Colonial Heights, he was the son of the late Eugene and Lottie Bennett Martin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hallie Delma Martin, and a daughter, Herberly Smith. Mr. Martin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Swift Creek Ward, and a United States Navy veteran. He is survived by his daughters, Cindy Balazik and husband, Thomas of Disputanta, Roxanne Brandeberry and husband, Bill of Colonial Heights, Kelly Hill and husband, Keith of Courtland, and Kandy Howard and husband, Gary of Chester; son-in-law, Ronnie Smith of Griffin, Georgia; eleven grandchildren, T.J. Balazik of St. Augustine, Florida, Nicole Gachuzo of Henrico, Jared and Adam Brandeberry of Colonial Heights, Amy Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Joshua Brandeberry of Midvale, Utah, Marty Smith and Leah Brandon of Griffin, Georgia, Robert MacLeod of Courtland, Nicholas MacLeod of Norfolk and Kayleigh MacLeod of Courtland; and fourteen great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 501 Compton Road, Colonial Heights, Virginia with Bishop Mike Mabe officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Colonial Heights Chapel of the E.
